Family Resources
Parents and caregivers spend a lot of time at Blythedale. We want you to feel at home while visiting your child.
We have a number of amenities to address your needs throughout your child's stay. Details are listed in the sections below.
A parent or caregiver is welcome to stay at the bedside throughout your child's admission. Each room is equipped with a convertible sleeper sofa, and shower facilities are available.
On each unit of the inpatient building, there are small respite areas that will be helpful to you. A microwave and refrigerator are available for patient and family use on each unit.
We encourage you to take advantage of our amenities for families during your child’s stay. Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your child.
Please click here to learn more about how Blythedale is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, including updated visitation guidelines.
If you have any questions about these services prior to admission, please contact Leticia Villavicencio in the Social Work and Care Coordination Services department. Our goal is to make this process as stress-free as possible for you and your child.
Our Family Resource Center is designed to serve as a special place of respite for caregivers and siblings. The Center includes a comfortable sitting area, kitchenette, and dining area to allow for some time away from the bedside. There is a computer available for your use, and the Hospital has free Wi-Fi access.
Our new cafeteria offers a variety of healthy meal options for you during the week, including evening and weekend service through our meal program. In addition, there is 24-hour access to vending machines and a microwave. Your social worker or patient ambassador can provide you with additional information. To explore other dining options in Valhalla and nearby White Plains, please see below for a listing of local resources.
The Bikur Cholim Room is an inviting space where our observant families can enjoy a meal, celebrate Shabbat, or use for quiet reflection. A privacy screen is available for those who wish. The room has a stocked refrigerator available for communal use and a smaller one for personal items. There is also a dairy microwave, a meat microwave, a warming drawer, and a hot water pump. Food, including soups, sandwiches, drinks and snacks are available as well. The food is restocked regularly by Bikur Cholim. Supplies for the celebration of Shabbat, including grape juice and battery-operated candles, are available.
We encourage you to reach out to Bikur Cholim prior to or during your stay if you have any specific questions or requests. The phone number is (845) 425-7877.
In our effort to support our nursing mothers, Blythedale offers a dedicated lactation room. While you are welcome to bring your own supplies, Blythedale has a pump and all supplies available for your use. We have designated storage for a limited amount of expressed milk.
Parents or caregivers have the option to send their child's clothing out to be laundered. This service is free of charge. If you prefer to do your child's laundry, there are commercial machines on each Unit for your use.
If you have questions about traveling to or from Blythedale, please contact Leticia Villavicencio at (914) 831-2439 or lvillavicencio@blythedale.org. We have a variety of ways to assist you with getting here. Additionally, many of our parents find our shuttle, which runs every other week to a local shopping center, especially useful during their child's admission. The video below highlights this service.
