Director of Occupational Therapy and Assistive Technology

Julie Knitter, OTR is the Director of Occupational Therapy, and the Assistive Technology Service at Blythedale Children’s Hospital. She has over 35 years of experience at the Hospital and supervises a staff of more than 25 occupational therapists. Ms. Knitter earned her bachelor of science degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Wisconsin.  

Under her leadership, the Occupational Therapy Department continues to advance knowledge and practice in pediatric rehabilitation, including expertise in the treatment of infants and children with brain injuries. She has overseen the development of an innovative upper extremity intensive program for children with hemiplegia. She has an extensive background in pediatric rehabilitation with particular areas of interest including hemiplegia, brain injury, hand function, research, and assistive technology.
