John Canning, MPA

John Canning, MPA, is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Blythedale Children’s Hospital, a role he has held since 2007. In this capacity, he oversees Information Technology, Accounting, Patient Financial Services, Material Management and Payroll at the Hospital.  

Mr. Canning has several decades of administrative and fiscal experience working in the healthcare field.  Prior to Blythedale, he served as Director of Finance & Budget for 10 years at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital at New YorkPresbyterian. During his tenure at NYP he played an instrumental role in building and operating the Children’s Hospital. Mr. Canning also worked as a senior planning analyst at Northwell Health system on Long Island and was involved in the hospital acquisition strategy during the early 1990s. Additionally, he was an administrative resident at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester.

Mr. Canning holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Maine.
